Thanks for all the kind words, everyone! Unfortunately, I saw a new specialist, and she thinks that there is way too much multi organ system involvement for this to be as easy as just a tumor. I'm not sure where my head is at yet about all this, but since makeup and no buys don't seem to matter right now, I will probably not be on here much anymore. I have very much enjoyed getting to know you guys though.
thoughts and prayers with you. Hang in there and should you ever need to just talk to someone, about anything, we're all here for you.

Hooray, it's done!

I made several purchases... I THINK they're all within my rules.

Explaining under the spoiler:

  1. $40 Kate Spade wristlet from Nordstrom Rack. I was there to return $109 worth of Hautelook, not for shopping! I had a wristlet earlier last year and kept all my essentials in it, and used it literally every day. I lost if on Thanksgiving, and my life has been a pain in the @ss since. They had the exact style of my original, for half the price. I'm categorizing this as a replacement purchase, and now I can stop stalking the Kate Spade website.
  2. $23 Boar bristle brush that's supposed to be a decent dupe of the $200 Mason Pearson brushes. It's been a good seven years since I bought a hair brush, and mine is not aging well. The one I want is sold at Ulta, but I found it at a local shop today, plus I got a discount for working in the neighborhood. I had decided to use my $10 birthday coupon on the Ulta one, but it was even cheaper at the shop. This a replacement.
  3. $20: Julep: I never made a firm decision on what is/isn't okay for my no-buy. I ended up taking a box (no add-ons, just the box) on one account, and skipped on the other. I guess my rule is going to be I have to skip at least half of the boxes during the no-buy. My box is a pretty high value, $74 for $20, and I got a product that is on my shopping list instead of trying something new just for the fun of it.
  4. $11: Sephora Flash, plus my free birthday gift, plus a $1 hair tie so I could use a code to get a mascara I've been wanting to try forever. Look, I thought Flash was a mythical fairy never to be seen by mere mortals like myself. I don't know how long Flash will be available, I had to jump on it before it vanished back into the ether. It's worth it even if I only use it to get my birthday gift and for Black Friday. This was a cheap, smart purchase. If I'd expected it to be available, I would have planned for it to be a purchase.

$94 is way, way higher than I'd like it to be, but:

  • It's the least I've spent in one month since I started participating on MUT.
  • If you could the $109 that I returned, I spent nothing!
  • No true impulse purchases, not even birthday ones!

Sorry for the double post. I forgot to share my progress!

I think I remember my goals, so I'll try an update, since we're halfway through this set. (Also 25 days, wow! I can't wrap my head around the fact that it's 1/4 done!)

1) Apply to 5 jobs. Not yet, but I do have a list of about 10 that I want to apply for, so I can make good progress in the next 5 days. FAIL -0/5 applied for, so this goal is getting moved on to days 31-40

2) Stretch 5 times. 2 down out of 5! Success! 5/5 done

3) Resist temptation! I had 2 circumstances where i was tempted that I detailed, and I did give into one of them, but waited until i was within the rules I set for myself, so I call it a win!  And now the other temptation seems less strong, so double-win! I had some purchases, but all were allowed per my original rules. Success

4) Pick up around the apartment every evening for 5-10 minutes.  Successful so far! And I remained successful!

ETA: Forgot a goal
3/4, I'm calling that a win. I also completed my goal of making a palette for my capsule wardrobe, so I'm at 4/5. Color palette spoilered below if you're curious. The top one is for fall/winter and the bottom is spring/summer.

@@Suzaqu I love those palettes!  My one complaint so far has been that capsule wardrobes are BORING and neutral.  I found a blog called Mom Advice that had a nice bright one!  I'm using her for inspiration!

@ Thank you! I agree that they can get really neutral, because that's the easy way. I'll have to check out that blog, because I'm ready to inject some color into my wardrobe. I based these palettes on what i already own, but I'm expecting they will evolve as I get more comfortable with color! (I have a tendency to stick to grey, white, and black more than I can.)

Thank you also for all of your work as a mod! I've seen the posts that have been put up, and I'm shocked to hear what has been happening. All of your work is truly appreciated by me and all of MUT! Even before I joined the website officially, I was impressed by what the mods did and how involved in the community they all were.

Awesome color palettes! Those look perfect. I think there's a common misconception that capsule wardrobes have to be neutral and basic, which is unfortunate. Usually a good base has neutral colors of both tops and bottoms that can be mixed and matched, but that's only to make it easier to make outfits.

Capsules can be amazing and interesting if you play with color but even better if you add patterns and texture and accessories. For example, a pattern like a floral skirt with two main colors in it could be paired with tops of either color, or neutral tops, or a contrasting color. If you add in texture to the top like silk or lace or ruffles or a chunky knit.. Plus jewelry, shoes, outerwear.. the possibilities are endless! And being able to pair most tops with most bottoms means never putting on clothing that doesn't look good together. I love it. :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Make sure you let us know how putting together your outfits goes!

You're doing really good with your thoughts. I still have those daydreams about what I'd buy and how I'd time it, etc. Hahah, it *is* pretty fun. I am trying to not do that as much, but it kind of helps a little to curb my spending because I don't do it, I just think it. Hehehe.
Hey @@eastofthesun I have the update for what I "reported" to you last a few days ago-- I went to a mall with bf on Saturday, I had added a $8 sephora lip balm to return so the total was about $64 worth. I walked around thinking about things on my sephora loves list, and looked at a few products in store. I ended up not buying anything for myself but buying a $30 moisturizer with spf for bf as part of V-day gift. I feel pretty good, and I just wanted to say your words helped!

My goals were:

1. Use a mask once. Not done, but will be later today.  Done!

2. Paint nails twice. Not done either, my last manicure lasted a long while and I just removed it last night, so maybe I'll do my first one tonight.

3. Use a hair mask at least once.  Not done, maybe I'll do that too tonight.  Done!  And I finished one mini and am onto the next one.

4. Finish counting inventory.  Done!

5. Learn about 3 of my samples and use one of them.  1/3 done, but I haven't used it yet.

6. Make space for storage drawers.  Not done.

7. Keep driving appointment and schedule a new one.  I did keep the appointment, but I want to practice some before making the next one.

8. Apply for 1 scholarship.  Not Done

9. Balance checkbooks. Not Done

10. Limit myself to 3 cans of pop. So far I have been successful.
1. Done

2. Nope, I just didn't feel like doing my nails at all this week.

3. Done

4. Done

5. No progress either.

6. Nope

7. No progress.

8. Nope

9. About 2/3 done.

10. Done!

IDK, but I kind of lost steam this past 10 days.  But the important part is that I didn't buy any makeup.  I did browse Ulta, and saw an eyeshadow set that was adorable, and was tempted, but after actually looking at the colors, I realized I probably have 3 similar shades for most of the colors.  So I didn't get it.  I did buy some clothes though, at 84% off.  But I'm not limiting clothes, I just like to brag about good deals :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />
