Fragrant facial steams naturally open pores and help clear sinuses and soothe anxiety. You can enjoy a steam while sitting in the bath using any combination of herbs and flowers. Make extra sure that your ingredients are pure and organic.
Clean your face before steaming. The intense heat may irritate sensitive skin, so go only as close to the steam as feels comfortable.

Slowly lower your face toward the water, just to the point where you feel the damp vapors against your skin. You can drape a towel over your head, holding it at the corners to create an awning, trapping the steam underneath. Stay in this position for as long as it feels comfortable.

Metabolic Mint Steam

Mint is said to increase energy. Consider steeping a separate glass of a sweet Moroccan mint tea to sip in the bath after completing this steam (makes one application).

3 cups boiling water

1 small handful fresh mint leaves and lavender buds or 1 tablespoon of each in dried form

1 large towel

Place a large ceramic or plastic bowl on a flat surface. (If steaming in the bath, consider placing the bowl on a low waterproof stool or tray.) Add the mint and lavender to the bowl.

Pour in the boiling water and let steep for at least two minutes.

Slowly lower your face over the steam until you are at a distance above the misting bowl that feels comfortable.

Cover your head and the bowl with the towel, trapping the steam inside. Inhale deeply for five to 10 minutes.

Basil Bath Steam

Basil is said to help calm the nerves and focus the mind. Follow the directions for the Metabolic Mint Steam using these ingredients:

3 cups boiling water

1 small handful fresh basil leaves and chamomile flowers or 1 tablespoon of each in dried form

1 large towel
