Cocoa Lip Gloss Recipe

Make your own chocolate flavored lip gloss using this recipe.

Materials Needed:

  • Powdered Cocoa Mix
  • Petroleum Jelly
  • Small Container
Instructions:Put desired amount of petroleum jelly into a small glass bowl. Put it in a microwave for 30 seconds; take it out and stir. Continue doing this until the vaseline is melted. Add the desired amount of cocoa powder (experiment!) and stir. Miscrowave for 30 more seconds and stir. Set it aside to cool.

Once it is cool enough to handle, spoon it into a small container (recycle old makeup containers or 35mm film containers, or look in stores that carry beads, crafts, or fishing tackle). Set it aside until the petroleum jelly gets firm, and then it is ready to use!

You can also use this recipe to make fruit lip gloss by using powedered juice mix instead of cocoa.

Homemade Lip Gloss

CRANBERRY LIP GLOSS

1 Tbs almond oil

10 fresh cranberries

1 tsp honey

Mix together all the ingredients and place them in a mircrowave or heat resistant container. Heat in the microwave or water bath until the mixture justs begins to boil (1-2 mintues in the microwave). Stir well and gently mash the berries. Let sit for 5 minutes. Strain the mixture through a fine sieve to remove all pieces of cranberry. Stir and allow to cool completely. When cool, spoon into a clean container. Fresh cranberries give this simple gloss a hint of color and natural flavor:if you prefer more shine, you can mix up to one teaspoon of petroleum jelly into the finished product.

Pour into a small lip gloss container and allow to cool completely before using. Merle is a teacher turned Net Mommy. Vanilla Lip Gloss

Heat this gently over a double boiler for a few minutes, until well combined and warmed through. Or, put in a microwave-safe plastic or glass dish and heat on low heat for a minute, stir, and heat for another 20 seconds and stir again. If you're just doing a single recipe, this is all you'll need to heat the mixture before bottling. If you're making large quantities, microwave for a little longer. Spoon or pour the vanilla lip gloss mixture into tiny glass or plastic containers and store in the fridge to harden slightly.
