Lately, it's been "We're in Heaven" by DJ Sammy (slow version sung by a woman, not the 9/11 song by the little girl, although that's a tear-jerker, too). I've got it on non-stop repeat until I get sick of it. Bryan Adams also has a version, but the way the woman sings it just gets to me. If you're not familiar and/or would like a copy, pm me and I'll send it to you.

To Sir With Love----------Title song from the film starring Sidney Poitier and Lulu

If your young you will have no idea.

My father died suddenly from nyquil 6 yrs ago this december 9th..still almost 6 yrs later i torture myself and will play this song 50 times or more a day and will cry hysterically. I can't help it.

lyrics

The time has come for closing books and long last looks must end

And as I leave I know that I am leaving my best friend

A friend who taught me right from wrong and weak from strong

That's a lot to learn,

What, what can I give you in return?

If you wanted the moon

I would try to make a start

But I, would rather you let me give my heart

To you, with love

Those schoolgirl days of telling tales and biting nails are gone, yeah

But in my mind I know that they live on and on and on and on

But how do you thank someone

Who has taken you from crayons to perfume?

Well it it's not easy, but I'll try

If you wanted the sky

I would write across the sky in letters

That would soar a thousand feet high

To you, with love

Those awkward years have hurried by, why did they fly, fly away?

Why is it Sir, children grow up to be people one day?

What takes the place of climbing trees,

And dirty knees, in the world outside?

What, what is there that I can buy?

If you wanted the world,

I'd surround it with a wall, I'd scrawl

These words with letters ten feet tall

To you, with love

I will have to listen to this, my father was robbed and murdered when I was 11, but I feel like it was yesterday. Songs like Amazing Grace I cant even listen to b/c that was played at his funeral. In My Fathers Eyes-Eric Clapton (was played at a friends fathers funeral, kills me everytime). My ultimate breakup relationship song is Tin Man by Kenny Chesney, I used to play it a million times when I got dumped by guys, also Unbreakable Heart-Jessica Andrews, You'll Never Know-Mindy McCready, Total Eclipse of the Heart (I play the version sung by Jessica Sierra when my bf and I fight). I cry a lot at songs other people dont, I bawled the first time I heard this Katrina tragedy song sung by Michael W. Smith I think is the singer, I only heard it once, also Switchfoot-This is your Life, b/c it is like they wrote it for me b/c I have a hard time in life a lot. Basically, country and Christian music, if you havent noticed, lol. If I am sad I just put on the really sad ones, bawl my eyes out, and I feel better. Oh and after Dale Sr died, they used to play these tribute songs on our country station about his wreck, I actually would go into my old office with swollen red eyes after my drive there. They would ask, fight with the bf or is it bc of Dale Sr? They knew me too well at that company.

My favourite top ten sad songs are:

1. "My Immortal" - Evanescence - everytime when I hear this song - I cry

2. "(What If God Was) One Of Us" - Joan Osborne

3. "Rain" - Guano Apes

4. " Nikt tak pięknie nie mówił, ze się boi miłości" Pidżama Porno - it's polish punk rock band, but this song is a ballad. I would translate title as " Nobody say so beautiful, that he afraids love" I know that it is funny, but my language isn't very well and I can make mistakes, so please forgive me

5. "I need some sleep" - Eels - Shrek 2 Soundtrack

6. "Caught in a moment" Sugababes - girlsband from UK - maybe you recongize they

7. "Scar tissue" - Red Hot Chili Pepers

8. "Promise Me" Beverly Craven

9. "Sweetest Goodbye" Maroon 5 - my love :icon_love

and the last one: 10. "Glory Box" Portishead

Oooh, yes I do get in those moods where I listen to very melancholy music.

Norah Jones

Instrumental Chinese or Japanese music (slow songs)

Those sappy songs by "Journey"

I can NOT listen to Stevie Wonder's song "I just called to say I love you" because my mom used to call me and joke around and sing that to me over the phone - - - - she passed away 10 years ago and it still makes me think of her and cry.

Top 4 sad songs for me.... (2 are 9/11 versions that are really sad)

1. Please Remember Me - Leann Rimes (WTC Version)

2. One More Day With You - Diamond Rio

3. Angels in Heaven - Higher Faith (WTC Version)

4. Why Does the Sun Go on Shining - Skeeter Davis (from the movie Girl, Interrupted)

"The Last Song" by Elton John is so sad that if it comes on the radio when I'm driving, I have to pull over because it makes me cry so much I can't see.

"Goodnight Saigon" by Billy Joel is probably the second saddest song to me.

I very much like this list!To it I'd add:

Gloomy Sunday - Bjork

Romulus - Sufjan Stevens

Karma Police - Radiohead

I Don't Believe in the Sun - Magnetic Fields

And how can one be properly depressed without listening to Morrissey (I'd go with "Yes, I am Blind")?

Oh man just thinking about all these songs make me sad.

David Gray is such an amazing musician, man. I love him.

Dave Matthews is pretty good at the sad bastard (as i like to call them) songs but I think the king of all sad bastards is Ryan Adams. Jeff Buckley has some gut wrenchers, too.
