Spring Fashion Report: 2005 (taken by Marie Claire)

Hot off the spring runways? Fabrics with shine, a new way to wear white, bold prints, anything blue-green -- plus the <!--Pos Off --><!-- V/5 generated DART tag v2.1 --><!-- sstype=other --><!--DART params(7|434717|/mags/marieclaire/fashion/trends/articles:660997)--><!-- End DART Tag -->best bags and shoes (surprise, the wedge is back!) we've seen in seasons. Read on for details.

Bold Prints

The look: African. Navajo. Floral. Geometric. Think bright, bold, in-your-face. No wallflowers in sight.

How to wear it: The news is in the mix. But if you're not an accomplished fashionista, get the most pop out of a single, knockout piece paired with something solid.

Where to wear it: Night or day, the bold wattage is the same. One tip: keep big prints on soft, body-hugging fabrics.

Blue-Green

The look: What's fashion's new black? Aquatic blue-green! Exotic, calming, serene ‑- this lush hue transports you to thoughts of endless Caribbean water and sky, even in the concrete jungle.

How to wear it: Combine fabrics, embellishments and prints for a total tip-to-toe crescendo. Most shades look good on every skin tone.

Where to wear it: Anywhere you like ‑- to work, to play, to swim, to bed.

Jackets

The look: Think shrunken and cropped. Especially chic: bracelet-length, '50s-style sleeves, portrait collars and square necks.

How to wear it: Over nothing ‑- or anything. Keep underpinnings short-sleeved or sleeveless, so nothing pokes out from the jacket sleeve.

Where to wear it: This jacket is a chameleon: Dress it up or down. With jeans it's everyday casual; move it into work over a skirt.

PANTS

The look: Sleek and skinny, or loose and boyish. Choose what works for your body. Note the re-emergence of a higher waistline.

How to wear it: Opposites attract! For a balanced look, pair skinny pants with a deconstructed top and looser pants with a shrunken cardigan. Freshen up last year's trousers by cuffing and rolling the legs.

Where to wear it: You name it: Night. Day. Work. Weekend.

SKIRTS

The look: The big news: volume. Poufy and girlie feel fresh, as do feminine hemline treatments like ruffles and pleats. Length is not an issue.

How to wear it: The key to voluminous done well: a tight or tiny waistline. Jackets and blouses get wrapped and tied.

Where to wear it: The clues will come from the fabric, no matter what the shape: casual cottons by day, luxurious fabrics by night.

I'm not one to follow trends, but some of these sound like stuff I already wear. Thanks for posting Shoey!
